An NPD Group report confirms that there are more than 50% of players with more than 65 years.
If someone still thought that video games are a child’s thing, the latest report from NPD Group could not be more revealing. The well-known analyst Mat Piscatella points out that in the United States there are more than 50% of video game players with more than 65 years of age, and the forecasts are that there are more and more fans.
The 2019 data indicates that in the United States there are 67% of players between 45-54 years old, with 57% of fans between the ages of 55 and 64. If we talk about people over 65, the figure is around 56%. The NPD Group report highlights that PC and mobile phones are the favorite platforms , but one in four players between 45 and 54 years old enjoys video games on the console. Among the public aged 55 and 64, 10% of players have a console. And the good news is that forecasts are that the market will continue to grow.
The analyst explains that since Generation X “grew up with an Atari 2600 ” in their homes, always being the pillar of these platforms, so the prospects are very promising. “This market is only going to grow,” warns Mat Piscatella.
In recent days, other interesting facts have come to light, such as the best-selling games of the last decade in the United States. In the absence of knowing the December sales data in North America, NPD Group confirmed that Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in November.
