PlayStation 5: Incredible Details On Higher Resolutions, Too

PlayStation 5 – Luca Dalco, the head of LKA, believes that Sony’s next-gen console will have exciting specs.

PSU reports of an interview conducted by the Official PlayStation Magazine, where they asked the head of the studio that develops Martha is Dead. „We worked a lot to use the highest-resolution textures as possible also on PlayStation 4; nonetheless, PlayStation 5 will allow us to use an incredible Texel density, up to 4096px/m – that means the visual will be fully detailed also in higher resolutions. It’s one of the most important advances in the visual capacity that we were waiting for,” Dalco says. Reaching 4096px/m density would be seen: in 3D scenes, a better texel density (which describes the relationship between different textures on different meshes) would allow better details in polygonal renderings.

„The PlayStation 5’s specifications are incredibly exciting – particularly for us is the additional graphical power and inclusion of ray-tracing architecture. Our studio has come a long way over four years and Martha Is Dead will strive for photorealism. We’re excited to see the next-generation hardware incoming to support us bringing our vision to players,” Dalco added. And even though the higher-quality textures would be bigger, it wouldn’t be an issue with the internal SSD confirmed to be in the PlayStation 5.

Luke Stephens, a YouTuber adds on Twitter: „[I] heard from one of my old Sony pals that they’ve internally delayed the reveal and launch dates of [the] PlayStation 5 due to supply chain concerns. Was supposed to be revealed a little over a week ago. We should find out more before April.” So the February reveal rumours were true.

The PlayStation 5 is supposed to launch this Holiday season. Rumours say it could come in two variants (meaning the stronger model could be called PlayStation 5 Pro), but Sony only confirmed one. We don’t know its price yet, but it’s likely going to cost more than the PlayStation 4 did at launch.
