Activision Blizzard seems to not be interested in paying for all the licenses.

On IGN, we read the soundtrack of the game. Let’s see the eighteen songs. The titles are followed by the artists:

• “Police Truck” – Dead Kennedys
• “Superman” – Goldfinger
• “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” – Primus
• “New Girl” – The Suicide Machines
• “Here and Now” – The Ernies
• “Euro-Barge” – The Vandals
• “Blood Brothers” – Papa Roach
• “Guerilla Radio” – Rage Against the Machine
• “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” – Naughty by Nature
• “You” – Bad Religion
• “When Worlds Collide” – Powerman 5000
• “No Cigar” – Millencolin
• “Cyclone” – Dub Pistols
• “May 16” – Lagwagon
• “Subculture” – Styles of Beyond, Dieselboy + Kaos
• “Heavy Metal Winner” – Consumed
• “Evil Eye” – Fu Manchu
• “Five Lessons Learned” – Swingin’ Utters

 

The problem is that this list is incomplete (but you can find it on Spotify). The first Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater lacks no less than EIGHT songs! They would be missing:

• “Vilified” – Even Rude
• “Screamer” – Speedealer
• “Nothing to Me” – Speedealer
• “Cyco Vision” – Suicidal Tendencies
• “Committed” – Unsane
• “Ain’t Got Time to Waste” – Aim featuring YZ
• “Le Hot” – Grand Unified
• “Blue Thunder” – Aquasky

 

Unfortunately, even Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 lacks four songs, so this soundtrack also lacks a few tracks:

• “Bring the Noise” – Anthrax and Chuck D
• “B-Boy Document ’99” – The High & Mighty featuring Yasiin Bey & Mad Skillz
• “Out With The Old” – Alley Life featuring Black Planet
• “City Star” – Born Allah

 

We have to ask a question: if they can’t completely create something, then what is the point altogether? There are a few memorable songs that are nowhere to be seen in the remasters (such as Cyco Vision, or Bring the Noise), so the ambience will not be perfect.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2’s cast will return. (Not the complete cast, we guess – we doubt that Officer Dick, Spider-Man, or Private Carrera would be included) Vicarious Visions, who previously worked on the Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, as well as the PS1 version of THPS4, made the skaters older than in the original games – they are all into their 40s by this point, and Tony Hawk himself is in his fifties. Everyone seems to have unique grunts recorded, too.

Going by the gameplay below… well, it seems better than Robomodo’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, but the physics feel weird: coming out of a pool, the originals did not slow you down this much when jumping on a pipe to grind that.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 launches on September 4 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Epic Games Store). Pre-ordering will get you the Warehouse demo sometime before the launch.
