Another Kirby adventure is in the works! Nintendo wrapped up yesterday’s Nintendo Direct with this announcement.

Freely explore and traverse an expansive world with Kirby’s enhanced copy abilities. Copy your enemies’ abilities and use the powers you gain in many different ways. Blast yourself into the air with bomb jumps, stick your sword into trees and climb, and ride at high speeds across fields. There are plenty of moves you can use to get around and push the boundaries of your exploration. Encounter a mysterious girl and embark on an adventure beyond a peculiar wall. Rescue a girl with mysterious powers from King Dedede! Who is she? Is she connected to the strange power Kirby has gained? Why is there a huge wall in Kirby’s way? What could be waiting on the other side? These are just some of the mysteries you’ll uncover on your journey!

The last major Kirby platformer was Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which was released for the Switch in 2022. It was the first fully 3D platformer starring Kirby. It was the most well-rounded adventure in the series to date. While the platformer itself didn’t rival Mario, the game’s overflowing creativity resulted in a bold, cheerful adventure. This was followed by an update for the Nintendo Switch 2, Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World, released in August 2025. In addition to visual enhancements tailored to the more powerful hardware, including an increase from 30 to 60 frames per second, it added 12 new levels. Thanks to the increased resolution and frame rate of the Switch 2 update, the game’s visuals and overall experience became much more polished. Although the 12 new stages were essentially a DLC pack, more of the same wasn’t a downside in this case.

Kirby and the World Beyond will be released this spring for the Nintendo Switch 2.
