The gaming industry stands up against racism, and EA has also postponed a show

Due to growing protests and riots in the United States, Electronic Arts has postponed a more detailed presentation of one of this year’s sports games, Madden NFL 21.

The announcement of Madden NFL 21 is a huge event: everyone knows they arrive regularly every year. The Inside Xbox spoke for the first time about the game, but no major show has been made about American football so far.

Electronic Arts announced in a statement to fans on Twitter that it will not release the trailer scheduled for June 1 from the game. With this move, they want to stand up against racism and then they will talk about the game at another time because it is a bigger problem and here we need to work together to bring about change. And with that, Madden NFL 21 is likely to be unveiled on June 11 on EA Play Live. The game is also made for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and most likely PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

A significant portion of the gaming industry has also spoken out on the matter. Among others: Microsoft, Sony, Disney, Activision Blizzard, Naughty Dog, Bethesda, Riot and we could continue the line, who posted similar thoughts, but among them we also find Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us Part II creative director and co-writer.

The situation was due to the death of George Floyd, as a police officer essentially strangled Floyd by kneeling on his neck so he could not breathe. Floyd was also black, and before he drowned, he told the police several times that he wouldn’t breathe, but in vain…
