Not Even Steam Is Safe From The Delays

Even more digital events have been postponed, and one of them impacts Steam, too.

Let’s go in chronological order. Guerrilla Collective, which would be an indie showcase, was first planned to be held on June 6, 7, and 8. Here comes their Twitter announcement: „The Guerrilla Collective came together to create a space where we all find a voice to support each other, our industry and our work. It is the cumulative effort of incredibly diverse teams unified in the creation of a digital event to bring hope and positive content to the world. We recognize this is a time for action and for voices speaking out for justice and change to be heard. We stand united for change, for justice, and in support of Black Lives Matter.

We are announcing here that our event is moving to June 13, 14, and 15. We are preparing a live stream for June 7 to highlight Black voices in our industry, dedicated exclusively to showcasing games created by Black developers, titles featuring Black protagonists, and conversations with these creators. We will have more details to share shortly,” their statement says.

Electronic Arts joined the line once more after delaying the Madden NFL 21 trailer to an unknown date (possibly the EA Play Live). Now, they delayed EA Play Live in a very short announcement on Twitter: „With the important conversations taking place and important voices being heard around the world right now, we’re moving our time to come together in play. We’ll see you at EA Play Live 2020 on June 18 at 4:00 p.m. PT / 7:00 p.m. ET.”

And finally, Geoff Keighley announced that the 2020 Steam Game Festival (which has free demos of upcoming games), which would have been held between June 9 to 14, was delayed to June 16-22.

It looks like the US protests have delayed everything now, and we wouldn’t be surprised if these events would have to be pushed back even further. After this coronavirus-filled year, it wouldn’t be surprising…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
