Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife: The World Of Darkness Goes VR [VIDEO]

Another game is being made based on the World of Darkness, but this time, it’s planned for virtual reality.

Fast Travel Games is developing Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife, which, according to them, is coming to „all major VR platforms.” „Sharing the same universe as Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Afterlife will let players experience the World of Darkness in virtual reality for the first time. It is also the first video game created based on Wraith: The Oblivion. Set in the modern Barclay Mansion, players will take the perspective of a Wraith and unravel the many mysteries that await beyond the Shroud,” their overview says.

„I am a massive fan of games like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Alien: Isolation, and have always felt that the kind of narrative-driven, exploration-focused horror these titles deliver would be perfect for virtual reality. To make such a game in the World of Darkness setting, specifically the rich and mystical world of Wraith: The Oblivion, is a dream come true for me, and I cannot wait to share more details about it!”, Fast Travel Games creative director Erik Odeldahl said in a press release.

„Playing games in the World of Darkness story universe, whether it’s tabletop, traditional video game, or virtual reality, lets us experience a dark, urban fantasy layered over our modern world. By assuming the perspective of a monster, we can gain a better understanding of what it truly means to be human. We’re excited to be taking our first steps from the Skinlands toward Stygia in World of Darkness version five in such an innovative and appropriate medium. Death is only the beginning in Wraith: The Oblivion…”, Paradox Interactive World of Darkness brand manager Sean Greaney added.

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife will be properly revealed with a gameplay trailer at Gamescom Now (starting on August 27), the digital version of Gamescom that will not be physically held this year due to the coronavirus.
