After The Last of Us Part 2, Naughty Dog is excited about working with PS5

The studio will take a break after the launch of The Last of Us Part 2.

Naughty Dog continues to reap success after the release of The Last of Us Part II. The sequel to PlayStation 4 is leading the list of sales in countries like the United Kingdom and its creators are already thinking about the new technology that is cooking after the new generation of PlayStation, although they will take a break first.

Neil Druckmann, director of The Last of Us Part 2, has spoken to members of the Talking Games podcast about the future of Naughty Dog. The team is excited to work with PlayStation 5, especially given the lack of restrictions on its SSD to load games. “At the end of a generation, you always notice the limitations,” said Druckmann.

The creative admits that creating new technology for new hardware can be “an uphill battle,” but it is also a relief to feel that freedom to break through limitations. “One of the things we are excited about is the SSD hard drive and what it means for near-perfect loading,” he continued.

“We do a lot of work on our part. But now, knowing that we are going to be able to load things more quickly, it means that designers don’t have to be so limited by how they present everything, how we think about things and when we’re loading new characters. So, I’m excited to see the doors open up for us, “Druckmann concluded.

On the rest that Naughty Dog will take after The Last of Us Part II, it is still not clear when we will be able to see some content from the study again. A possible DLC has been talked about recently, but it seems like that is something not yet contemplated. Druckmann has also shed some light on a third instalment admitting that “it could be a reality, but it will not be easy to find the motivation.” Check out all the details about the new Naughty Dog and find out why it’s sweeping the sales charts with our review of The Last of Us Part II.
