On Netflix, they have found a true vein with video game series. Productions such as Castlevania or The Witcher series, which although part of the literary saga, relies on the success of video games, are joined by new proposals such as the one that has just been officially announced now. And, after a year of rumors about a new Resident Evil series, the streaming platform has just confirmed this live-action production with the producer of the Milla Jovovich films.
” When the Wesker girls move to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover could spell the end of everything,” says one of Netflix’s official Twitter accounts. As added in The Hollywood Reporter, the new Resident Evil series will tell a story divided into two different eras. A part will be set in this version of Raccoon City, where the 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker move to the city and begin to discover the dark secrets that are hidden in it.
And the second timeline will be set in an apocalyptic future, where a 30-year-old Jade tries to survive tormented by the secrets of her past, about her, her sister, and also about her father. With the announcement, it is confirmed that the production company will be Constantin Film, something that was already leaked at the beginning of 2019, and also the identity of those responsible: the director will be Bronwen Hughes, who has previously worked on series such as Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead; while the writer and showrunner will be Andrew Dabb, who held the same positions on the Supernatural series.

„The series will be full of old friends, and some things that people have never seen” – Andrew Dabb
“Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time,” says Dabb. “I am very excited to be able to tell a new chapter of this incredible story […] The series will be full of old friends, and some crazy, bloodthirsty things that people have never seen before.” The truth is that this first description of the series is a bit different from the one that was leaked at the beginning of February, which placed the action in a city called ‘Clearfield’ instead of this New Raccoon City, although the rest of the elements have remained chords with her.
