During a South African promotion, a cost for the console appeared that could be the price of the Xbox Series X. This is broadly in line with our own previous information, which we got based on a leak from a Hungarian console store.

 

Pringles appears to have revealed the price of the Xbox Series X during a South African promotion.

The price of the Xbox Series X has not yet been confirmed from an official source, but the news about it on the net are circulating, and another such news came to light today.

So, as Critical Hit noticed, Pringles has sent out packages to South African influencers to promote the new Xbox among their viewers by making them win an Xbox Series X console and Game Pass subscriptions. A total of 46 consoles will be won this way, for a total of R621,000, which is roughly $ 37,000. After some math, it looks like the new Xbox Series X will cost about R13,500 in South Africa, which is roughly £ 611 and $ 800. Since the price of gaming devices has been on an equal footing between the UK and America in recent years, with a bold hint we can say that the price of the console will be around $ 599 in the US.

Since Microsoft hasn’t revealed anything about the price of the Xbox Series X yet, it could easily be that this price is wrong and that the final price won’t be $ 599, even if it seems like a very reasonable price, in fact, almost a friendly one. As the console approaches, this topic will certainly come up again and we will find out the truth.

By the way, Microsoft isn’t very excited about the price of the Xbox Series X, as the company’s strategy is about gamers, not the machine, as Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox, said back in June.

“We want to make sure we’re providing the right value to customers. Price is going to be important, but our strategy is centred around the player, not the device. If this is not the year when a family wants to make a decision to buy a new Xbox, that’s okay. Our strategy does not revolve around how many Xboxes I sell this year.”

The Xbox Series X will launch worldwide at an unknown time at the end of the year.
