But Where’s Ubisoft’s Avatar Game?

Let’s hope nobody forgot about how the French company is working on a game adaptation based on those blue characters…

The other day, we wrote about how Ubisoft has delayed the launch of Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine to make these two titles thicken the wallets of the French company in the next fiscal year that starts in April 2021. However, they can’t blame the coronavirus for Skull & Bones, which has reportedly been rebooted years after its announcement.

This also applies to the Avatar game. „The Avatar game that Ubisoft is working on will release after April 2022 and before March 2023,” Daniel Ahmad, Niko Partners’ senior analyst, wrote on Twitter. So it’s not coming out in the next fiscal year but the one after. And that means we can rule out a PlayStation 4 and an Xbox One version in favour of a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S port on top of the PC release.

Avatar’s game adaptation is being handled by Massive Entertainment, the team that is behind The Division. The last time we heard about Avatar, it was in February, when Jesper Karabanov, the producer, said „Yes, [the game is still in production], but I can’t speak about it. I can’t talk about it.”

Ubisoft announced the Avatar project for consoles and PC in early 2017. So it’s been a while. There’s not a lot of details about it, but it’s set to be set on Pandora, with Na’vi playing some role in the story. James Cameron is planning five movies in the series, and the game’s goal is to „deepen the Avatar universe in exciting and innovative ways,” according to Ubisoft’s statement.

And seeing how Avatar 2, the film, is set to arrive on December 16, 2022, according to Wikipedia, we wouldn’t be surprised if the game launches at the same time.
