Farpoint: What Is Impulse Gear Preparing?

The creators of Farpoint have created one of the most memorable PlayStation VR titles over three years ago, and it looks like they are up to something.

Impulse Gear has published a blog post for Christmas, and it sounds ominous. Let’s see what they wrote: „Happy Holidays from Impulse Gear! In the spirit of the season, we’d like to wish everyone a safe and joyous end of the year. Speaking of joyous, few things in games rival the excitement and anticipation found in the launch of a new console generation. We created Farpoint in 2017 to push the boundaries of VR and we are thrilled that audiences can experience the action and drama all over again on the PlayStation 5. The PS5 supports the [PlayStation] Aim controller and backwards compatibility with Farpoint, so survivors can keep moving in 2021.

To play Farpoint on the PlayStation 5, you need a PlayStation VR headset, a PlayStation Camera for PlayStation 4, and a PlayStation Camera adaptor. Enjoy much faster loading times and higher super sampling rates with Farpoint on PlayStation 5. […] We hope you are as excited for 2021 as we are. Stay tuned for some announcements coming early next year!”, Impulse Gear says.

The last sentence is what caught our attention: they are preparing some announcements. Since Farpoint launched over three years ago (with free expansions added to it, such as the Cryo Pack and the Versus Expansion Pack), the team had plenty of time to possibly create a new game, maybe even a sequel to Farpoint. Since the original was successful, it is plausible.

We’ll learn shortly what the team is doing. Will Sony announce the new PlayStation VR in early 2021? (The original model might be cheaper than its PC competitors, it also is weaker.)

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
