God Of War: Ragnarok: The Original Creator Believes In A Cross-Gen Release

Although David Jaffe isn’t related to developing Kratos’ adventures, he predicts that God of War, launched in April 2018 as a PlayStation 4-exclusive, will be continued on two console generations.

Perhaps Jim Ryan, the president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, was intentionally not giving a clear and concise answer about God of War: Ragnarok planned for PlayStation 4 as well or if it’s a PlayStation 5-exclusive title. David Jaffe, who was one of the key people behind creating the original God of War on the PS2, speculated in a YouTube video that both the 2013 and the 2020 PlayStation console will get the second chapter of the God of War game set in the Norse mythology.

Many publications wrote about Jaffe’s comments as facts, even though he’s not even related to Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica anymore, which is why he grabbed his keyboard in anger to write the following tweet (which we will censor due to harsh language): „What’s the matter with some of you f___sticks?! I have ZERO knowledge if the new God of War is cross-gen [or not] (but come on, of course, it is). I was stating an opinion based on things Jim Ryan has said in the press and the fact that I’m not a f___ng moron. It’s not my place to reveal ANY God of War information.”

Okay, there will be a cross-gen PlayStation-exclusive title soon, namely Horizon Forbidden West (unless it will also be ported to PC, as it happened to Horizon Zero Dawn as well), but Ryan has previously said that this game will be built from the ground-up with the PlayStation 5 in mind, meaning the PlayStation 4 port will be somewhat of an afterthought when it’s done. Better than nothing. Maybe.
