Outriders Can Be Paused… But Not For Everyone

On PC, you can indeed pause People Can Fly‘s game, while the devs hope that they can expand on their recently launched game shortly.

We read on Reddit that the recent, somewhat annoying trend of being unable to pause a game can be broken in Outriders. Not consoles, though, and not for everyone on PC either. If you have an AMD GPU, you are out of luck. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, you can pull it off.

You need GeForce Experience that allows you to update your drivers, record videos (no need for Fraps, OBS or Bandicam), and it also comes with a built-in photo mode called Ansel. In supported games, just press Alt+F2 to get a free camera view with post-processing effects and all, allowing you to pause the game. However, only if you play alone.

„We have so many more stories to tell, and a lot of ideas we want to explore that we couldn’t fit in the original game, so we’re happy to create more content in the future. Anything we would make would be in the form of significant expansions with self-contained stories,” People Can Fly’s creative director Bartek Kmita told Forbes about the possibility of adding more content to Outriders.

However, they don’t want to go down the live service path, following the lines of say, Diablo II (which has been confirmed to get a new version). Kmita even mentioned Diablo in their approach to it: „For inspiration, everything started with Diablo, which we still regard as best in class. We wanted to use Diablo as a reference, not other games from our genre.”

We have to wait until Square Enix sees what the numbers are. Seeing how the game is on Xbox Game Pass since day one (distorting the figures in their favour), it might happen…
