Horizon Forbidden West Might Not Launch This Year!

The rumours might have been right once again: we have heard that the sequel of Horizon Zero Dawn could slip over to 2022… and now, Sony has hinted at its possibility!

Gran Turismo 7? 2022. We wrote about it. God of War’s sequel, which likely going to be called God of War Ragnarok? 2022. We discussed this as well (and in the latter’s case, something that Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s president and CEO has been dodging for months, has been confirmed: the title will be cross-gen…). Horizon Forbidden West? 2022…? We intentionally wrote a question mark right at the end of that: it’s possible, but it’s not 100% confirmed yet.

On the PlayStation Blog, we can read an interview with Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios (we have to get used to Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios no longer used as a title for the studio conglomerate…), and he might be homesick a bit because, in the interview, Horizon Forbidden West was mentioned. Now, this game is being developed by Guerrilla Games, and Hulst, before his promotion, has led this studio.

Here’s what he said about the new adventures of Aloy: „We think we are on track to release [Horizon Forbidden West] this holiday season, but that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can.” And Sony needs something for the late 2021 period, as over at Xbox, Halo Infinite will arrive in this period. (Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, has previously openly claimed that he’s not that focused on the late 2020 game line-up, and instead, he concentrates on the holiday season of 2021!)

Horizon Forbidden West MIGHT launch by the end of 2021 on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. However, we’d say that you can bet money on it getting delayed…
