That’s No Moon: A New Elite Team With Smilegate’s Backing

That’s No Moon Entertainment is going to be a new, AAA studio that already has a few gaming industry veterans. The developers have previously worked at Naughty Dog, Sony Interactive Entertainment Santa Monica, and Infinity Ward.

You are likely familiar with all three studios (Naughty Dog: Uncharted, The Last of Us; SIE Santa Monica: God of War; Infinity Ward: Call of Duty, just to name the most recent examples), and That’s No Moon already has a significant backer: Smilegate (Crossfire) has given them a hefty paycheck to start.

100 million dollars is an outstanding method to kickstart the new studio, which is already working on its first game. It is going to be an action-adventure title „that will push the limits of both gameplay and story.” Let’s mention a few names that work at the studio. You might be familiar with a few of them.

The creative director is Taylor Kurosaki (Infinity Ward, Naughty Dog), the game’s director is Jacob Minkoff (Infinity Ward, Naughty Dog), the studio’s chief executive officer is Michael Mumbauer (the former head of PlayStation Visual Arts Group), and the chief strategy officer is Tina Kowalewski (the former director of product development at SIE Santa Monica). The rest of the team is comprised of Electronic Arts, Bungie, and other PlayStation veterans.

„We started That’s No Moon with a singular vision of creating unforgettable stories and characters that will define and extend beyond our medium. I’m proud to share that ambition with such a talented team of creators and our incredible partners at Smilegate,” Mumbauer said in a press release. „Smilegate is thrilled to be collaborating with the storytellers and game makers at That’s No Moon to create new experiences that will inspire empathy and deeper personal connections with players around the world. We look forward to working with them and continuing to invest in visionary development teams seeking to bring bold new ideas and innovation to gaming,” added Harold Kim, Smilegate’s vice president of business development.

Best of luck to them.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
