“Mission Impossible 7”: a train thrown off a cliff at full speed during filming

MOVIE NEWS – The filming of the seventh installment of the Tom Cruise saga is currently underway in England, and it is the locals who are revealing the behind-the-scenes story.

This is a scene that the people of Stoney Middleton will not soon forget. The village in central England was the scene of the filming of “Mission Impossible 7” on Friday 20 August, as you can see in our video at the top of the article.

A steam locomotive was thrown off a cliff for the blockbuster directed by Christopher McQuarrie. For this occasion, a fictitious railway line was installed near the old quarry of the village.

It required many months of work. A construction documented on Facebook by a local photographer who calls himself “Villager Jim”.

“I still can’t believe that in a few weeks a train is going to come down this track and jump off a cliff for the new ‘Mission Impossible‘ movie, what a moment that will be!”

The production obviously had no room for error and the scene was filmed in one take from a helicopter flying low over the locomotive.

On social networks, the inhabitants of Stoney Middleton shared videos from different angles of this unusual shooting. Some could see that Tom Cruise was indeed present on the scene.

“Tom Cruise gets into the golf carts after flying off the set, how cool is that? And that black helicopter goes perfectly with his outfit.”

Fans of the action-spy franchise, which began in 1996, will have to wait a few more months to see this scene in the cinema. Filming of the seventh installment, starring Hayley Atwell (“Avengers Endgame”), Simon Pegg (“Brothers in Arms,” “Ready Player One”) and Vanessa Kirby (“The Crown”) has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially scheduled for November 2021, the film should be released in France in spring 2022.
