Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Be Massive, Venom’s Voice Actor Claims

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, from Insomniac Games, is set to surpass the first instalment, which was released for PlayStation 4 in autumn 2018 and has since been released for PlayStation 5.

During PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (launched last November on PlayStation 5 as a launch title; also got a PlayStation 4 version) was not a full-blown sequel. We will get a proper sequel with the number two in its title. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will include Venom, and his voice actor, Tony Todd, got a question on Twitter. How long did he know about the game’s existence? Here’s Todd’s answer: “2 months or so. [The] game is massive. That’s why it won’t come out until 2023.”

After the PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games was happy to announce on the PlayStation Blog that Todd is joining their cast: “We’re so happy to announce that Tony Todd (of Candyman fame) will be voicing the symbiote-fueled Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’ve been fortunate to work with so many incredibly talented actors in our Spider-Man games, and Tony has been such a wonderful addition to the cast.”

The studio also said that they have high targets: “Just as in our previous Spider-Man games, we not only want to tell a great Super Hero story but also deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humour that dives deep into the people behind the mask. Much of the development team that brought you Marvel’s Spider-Man is returning to produce Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including Bryan Intihar (creative director) and Ryan Smith (game director).”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has no release date announced. However, Todd’s reply on Twitter openly stated it won’t be available until 2023 (and only on PlayStation 5). Did the actor slip the release window for the game by accident?
