Jump Force Enters In Its Sunset

Bandai Namco’s Jump Force game is only a few months away from leaving, and after that, the fighting game will only be available on disc.

According to an announcement from Bandai Namco, digital (Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, Steam sales of Jump Force will stop at February 7, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET, and from that point on, DLCs and virtual currency will no longer be available for purchase. It means that the basic edition will be digitally removed from the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC trio, and the Jump Force Deluxe Edition will also be removed from the Nintendo Switch. In addition, Jump Force Character Pack 1-14, Jump Force Character Pass 1-2, and the JF Medal will not be sold digitally.

And this isn’t a temporary farewell like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 (we wrote about that recently), but a permanent one, as Bandai Namco has confirmed that online services will also end from between 6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET and 10:00 p.m. PT / 1:00 a.m. ET. It means logging into the multiplayer lobby, online events, clan functions, viewing the Notice Board and the leaderboards, accepting Rewards from the Reward Center, the in-game Store, and Online Ranked Matches will end. These will be preceded by the Premium Shop, which the publisher will shoot down on August 1.

Being a not fully online game does not mean that Jump Force will be completely unusable, as offline content, online matches (which are not ranked), and purchased DLC will still work after the servers are shut down. Of course, you can still buy the game on disc or digitally (e.g. via Steam) via grey import.

There’s not much chance here that fans will bring it back in the future, giving Jump Force a new lease of life, but at least Bandai Namco has given a good heads up on exactly what the plans are.
