Trek to Yomi: The Kurosawa-Inspired Samurai Simulator Got A New Trailer [VIDEO]

In addition, Trek to Yomi will apparently be available to Xbox Game Pass users from day one.

 

 

When Trek to Yomi was announced, it was clear that the samurai genre had successfully entered the world of video games, as evidenced by Ghost of Tsushima and its colossal audience success. However, the developers continue to draw inspiration from the films of Akira Kurosawa when creating action games, as seen again in Trek to Yomi and its unique art style.

Set to arrive sometime in 2022, Trek to Yomi shows how the samurai fought

Expect an exciting story and an even more exciting combat system, as outlined in a new trailer released by Devolver Digital. These two concepts are perfectly combined with the game’s most striking artistic choice: a black and white filter meant to evoke the fierce fighting style of the Japanese filmmaker’s films.

In the classic Kurosawa tradition, we are given the role of a lone warrior who, after a traumatic childhood experience, must travel beyond life and death to choose not only his destiny but also confront his own darker side…

The release date for Trek to Yomi is unknown, but the developers have confirmed that it will be released sometime in 2022 for PC, PS 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series consoles, and will be available for Xbox Game Pass users from day one. We’ll have to keep an eye on Devolver Digital for more details on the game, which is sure to impress fans of Kurosawa’s films.
