Tom Holland Wants His Spider-Man To Fight Madame Web And Kingpin

MOVIE NEWS – With the latest movie barely in cinemas, Tom Holland is already thinking about what kind of villains his Spider-Man should fight next…

Let’s just say Tom Holland’s enthusiasm is understandable. Fact is, understanding Spider-Man: No Way Home is not that easy, given that it features more villains than all the previous Marvel films combined. So it’s no surprise that the actor is already thinking about who might be next – there’s hardly anyone left in the Spider-Man universe he hasn’t already taken care of!

It’s already being rumoured that another planned Spider-Man trilogy of films will follow Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, and finding great villains to join them will be essential to their success. To bring the multiverse to its climax, some fascinating characters may be needed, whose encounters and relationships with Spider-Man are strong enough to merit their own film.

If you ask Tom Holland himself, he already has some ideas. In a recent interview with Fandom, the actor named Madame Web as an outstanding possibility, and he’s confident that the MCU could present her uniquely and satisfyingly. As Holland explained, he also hopes to bring Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, into the MCU as another potential adversary for Spidey. Most fans would agree that this is long overdue.

“I think there are some interesting villains.”

“I think Madame Web could be something that is really interesting and we could do it in our own way. I’d really like to come up against Wilson Fisk.”

The character of Madame Web first appeared in the Marvel comic book series in 1980 and also in Spider-Man: The Animated Series in the voice of Joan Lee. In 2019, it was announced that Sony is developing a Madame Web movie, with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless signed on to write the script. The status of this project is still unclear, although rumours have surfaced about Sandra Bullock starring in the lead role. Bullock recently denied these rumours, insisting that she is “not Marvel material”.

Michael Clarke Duncan previously played the character of Kingpin in the infamous Daredevil franchise with Ben Affleck, but the character was recently brought to life by Vincent D’Onofrio in Netflix’s Daredevil series. After that series was cancelled after three seasons, it was suggested that D’Onofrio could appear as the character elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even before Hawkeye launched on Disney+, it was rumoured that D’Onofrio’s Kingpin would make a surprise appearance sometime during the season. Could the villain end up facing off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in a new Spider-Man movie…?

In any case, we’re likely to get another movie soon with the return of Tom Holland as Spider-Man, and rumour has it that director Jon Watts is planning to make Kraven the Hunter our next movie’s main villain. With a Kraven the Hunter film currently in the works starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage officially tying Sony Marvel’s characters to the MCU, there’s a good chance we’ll see Kraven and Spiderface clash one day…
