Even for Agents of Mayhem fans, the October post on the official Saints Row Twitter account went unnoticed.
In case you don’t remember, Agents of Mayhem was a spin-off of the Saints Row saga that was released in 2017. The game featured an online mode that had to be played to obtain specific achievements/trophies, but for a while now, players have been unable to access this mode, complaining and demanding answers, either from Volition or Deep Silver. To the surprise of many, the game servers were down “a long time ago”, and no warning was ever given.

If an observant ResetEra user had not noticed, we would probably still be unaware of the situation. In the most discreet way, and in a way that few people knew about at the time, the official Saints Row Twitter account responded to a complaint about the problem last October, explaining that Agents of Mayhem “servers were turned off a while ago.”
As mentioned, players need access to Agents of Mayhem’s online gameplay if they want to earn any achievements or trophies in the game. Obviously, this will now be impossible, and while I’m sure many are angry, what the community is most criticising now that the problem has been made public is the lack of communication from the relevant studios.
Agents of Mayhem was seen as a failure due to low sales, with developer Volition promising to learn from the spin-off’s rocky start. As a result, the game was largely ignored in the aftermath, which is perhaps why few people knew that its servers were no longer up and running. When exactly did they stop working? That remains a mystery.
If an address’s servers go down, it is usually expected that the relevant authorities will be notified. This way, no matter how small the community, players have the time and opportunity to prepare for the date the studio has indicated.
