New Monster Hunter Rise Expansion In The Works: Capcom Sets Date For Sunbreak

The Monster Hunter Rise DLC will arrive in summer 2022 on Nintendo Switch and PC

If we were to put together a list of the most anticipated games of 2022, we’d find that some pretty big names come to mind, from multiplatform standouts to exclusives to indie titles. But there are plenty of gamers out there waiting for Monster Hunter Rise. Specifically, the PC version is coming this January.

Both Steam and Nintendo Switch players will also be able to enjoy Sunbreak, the significant expansion that the game will release next year, this summer. As with Iceborne in the previous release, it will be available in downloadable format and will bring a new story, with new quests, new areas, new monsters and new gameplay, at least in terms of mechanics.

The truth is that Capcom has been silent since Sunbreak was announced, focusing more on the PC version of Monster Hunter Rise than on this new expansion. Now, thanks to a message posted on the franchise’s official social media account, we know when we’ll be hearing more news. Specifically, we are quoted for spring 2022, so we will only have to wait a few months to know in detail what the new content will bring us.

So, for now, we’ll have to wait and see how the arrival on PCs will feel for a version that will include all the Switch content from launch. Sure it will be fine, although users are not too happy about the fact that it has been confirmed that there will be no cross-play or progress transfer between platforms, something the community has been demanding.
