Live-Action Dungeons & Dragons Series: Red Notice Director To Helm The Project

MOVIE NEWS – Rawson Marshall Thurber will direct eOne’s upcoming live-action series inspired by Dungeons & Dragons.

EOne’s Dungeons & Dragons live-action series has taken an enormous step forward: according to Variety, Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber has just signed on to creatively oversee the project, which will involve writing and directing the pilot script. Thurber will also executive produce the series, which is based on the popular fantasy role-playing game published by Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast.

Thurber tweeted the news, saying: “So deeply thrilled about this. Grew up playing the pnp version (lvl 13 lawful good paladin, holla!), enjoyed the heck outta @DDOUnlimited — learned to tell stories through (always) being the DM. Boyhood dreams do come true, ya’ll. Can’t wait to get cracking.”

This series of one-hour episodes is just one of many projects to create a comprehensive Dungeons & Dragons TV universe.

Paramount recently completed production on a live-action Dungeons & Dragons movie directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. It stars an A-list cast including Regé-Jean Page, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Sophia Lillis, Justice Smith, Daisy Head and Chloe Coleman.

Thurber is best known as the writer, director and producer of the Netflix hit film Red Notice, which became the most-watched film in Netflix history when it was released in 2021. Among several other titles, he is also behind the comedy We’re the Millers starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis.

It was recently revealed that Part 2 and Part 3 of Red Notice are already in the works at Netflix, with Thurber writing the scripts. No word yet on when these films will hit cinemas – if they’ll even be shown on the big screen – but you can watch the original on Netflix while we wait for Dungeons & Dragons.
