American McGee’s Alice TV Series: X-Men’s Writer To Lead The Project

MOVIE NEWS – American McGee’s Alice is a dark, violent take on Lewis Carroll’s classic and will be presented in a new TV series on the small screen.

When Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was announced, many hoped that it would bring to life a darker vision of Wonderland – similar to the classic video game American McGee’s Alice, which we wrote a retrospective review of. Although the film was not exactly known for its light-hearted, light-hearted tone, it fell far short of the disturbing story told by the game and its sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, and the third instalment in development, Alice: Asylum. Now it looks like this spooky and murderous vision of Wonderland will be brought to the small screen in a new TV adaptation, with X-Men writer David Hayter set to direct the show.

American McGee himself shared the news, which The Hollywood Reporter reported with the comment that it “hinted at a big news announcement.” Although there are no details yet on which platform will distribute the series or any other specifics, the very idea is already inspiring fans of the series who have been waiting for this development for a long time.

“American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns game series is a groundbreaking reimagining of the classic tale,” said Hayter, who is also known to gamers as the voice of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid.

“It takes you into the heart of a corrupted Wonderland and throws light into shadowy corners the world has never seen. I am beyond excited to bring this world of madness and wonder to a global audience.”

“I am excited to be working with him and know the Alice fans will welcome him with mad affection,” McGee added in a statement.

Many adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice novels have been made over the years, with American McGee’s Alice coming from EA Games in 2000 with themes of murder, death and a dark and grotesque Wonderland for an adult audience. The story of the original game tells of Alice undergoing years of psychological treatment after her parents are murdered, and her damaged brain uses Wonderland as a refuge, but her troubled mind has turned the fantasy world into something perilous…
