Company of Heroes 3’s latest developer diary includes details on units, AI and more.
Many war strategy enthusiasts likely have their eyes on Company of Heroes 3. We’ve received news about the game’s development before, including details around the dynamic map and building destruction system. This time, the Relic team wanted to focus on missions in their latest developer diary.
Relic’s primary goal is variety, both in the missions and the challenge system
As they explain in the video, Relic is betting on variety to ensure fun through the game’s challenges. This will allow you to pursue different objectives while adapting to the circumstances of each scenario: “In some missions, you simply have to force the enemy out of a defensive position in a trench. In others, we have to recover valuable, damaged vehicles,” explains Sacha Narine, the lead designer of the single-player mode.
However, the Relic team also has to adapt to player choices around the units and sites they use. “We have to structure our operations and missions in a way that is challenging for the player but still achievable,” comments David Milne, mission designer.
The release date for the Company of Heroes 3 is not yet known, but it is clear from the developer logs that the Relic team is working hard on the game. In addition, the developers are also looking to the future and are not giving up hope that a console release will one day take place.
