Republique: Anniversary Edition: A New Version Of The Game; The Dev Opens Japanese Studio [VIDEO]

In addition to the new edition of Republique, Camouflaj has also launched a Japanese branch, led by a legend with localisation experience.

Camouflaj has announced that Republique: Anniversary Edition will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR and Nintendo Switch from next week. The PlayStation versions can be bought together as a bundle for $20. Otherwise, each version costs 15 bucks a pop.

„This new edition of their landmark first release, Republique: Anniversary Edition, brings Republique to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation VR for the very first time and adds brand new developer commentary tracks revealing new secrets about the game’s whirlwind development process. Republique: Anniversary Edition was originally built for PlayStation 4 along with partner studio, Darkwind Media, and then brought to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation VR by Skymap Games.

Republique is a thrilling and topical stealth-adventure game that explores the perils of government surveillance in the Internet Age. Players receive a call from Hope, a woman trapped inside a mysterious totalitarian state, and must hack into the nation’s elaborate surveillance network to guide her to freedom,” Camouflaj wrote.

Meanwhile, Camouflaj has launched Camouflaj Holdings in Japan, with Devil May Cry 5 producer Matt Walker in charge of its day-to-day running. Working alongside him is localisation legend Alexander O. Smith, who also worked on the translation of Final Fantasy VIII. He later got involved with the Ace Attorney series and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Walker said in the press release, „We’re thrilled to be starting a new chapter in Camouflaj’s history with the opening of Camouflaj Holdings here in Japan. Our second base here will strengthen our capability to build high quality, meaningful games globally. Republique: Anniversary Edition‘s arrival on Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation VR celebrates the studio’s first decade. I can’t wait for players to discover what we mean when we say we build ‘meaningful games’ by experiencing Republique‘s story, which I believe are even more relevant today than they were when Episode 1 was first released back in 2013.”

Republique: Anniversary Edition launches on PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR and Nintendo Switch on March 10.
