Since December, Blue Box Game Studios hasn’t even officially communicated about Abandoned, which may have overstayed its welcome with its marketing, and has been misty about its status ever since.

 

 

Abandoned, which we could safely put in quotation marks (as the Dutch studio treats it as a project name, so the game’s final title may be different), has recently disappeared from the news like a grey donkey in the mist. For the moment, the game seems to be following the same schedule as all previous Hasan Kahraman creations. Announce something with seemingly a lot of hype, only to see the project drag its feet until it dies before release.

But let’s not forget what’s happened so far: the game was announced with zero proper gameplay, then the studio marketed it with a tweet referencing Silent Hill, then a PlayStation 5 APP was revealed, which was then delayed, then the same few seconds of video was made available in it as seen on Twitter. And where is the announced playable demo, Prologue? Well… we have no idea.

In late February, Kahraman wrote on Twitter in response to a question that they were working on the game. That’s it. The studio’s Twitter account has been slowly losing followers. The rumoured release date for Abandoned: Prologue (February 1, we wrote about it from the source code on the website) ultimately led nowhere. The actual release was promised for the first quarter of 2022, by the way, so that means that the teaser, which can also be called a tech demo, should be out in three weeks because the clock is ticking.

The studio’s website hasn’t been updated since November 23, although it’s supposed to be the place to go for updates on the game. All it says is Abandoned Prologue, Coming soon, and the menu blog link doesn’t work for us. There is a link to the PlayStation Store. But a leak has popped up on Reddit, which we should be questioning, because who knows what’s true about it… three pictures that are supposed to be from a tester.

The game doesn’t look bad. Oh, is it a PlayStation 5 project?! Um…
