Fallout London’s Project Lead Says Bethesda Screwed Them Over! [VIDEO]

And Dean Carter got to give his opinion to none other than the BBC! (The BBC News interview gives the mod national exposure…)

Carter said that Bethesda never once contacted the modders who made Fallout London. As we’ve written before, the original planned release date had to be pushed back because of the announcement of a next-gen patch for Fallout 4, and because they know from the example of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition that the script extender could ruin a lot of mods, they pushed the post-apocalyptic London adventure back indefinitely…

“April 23rd was a date that would work well for us, it would be after the series came out, and it also had to do with when the in-game launch date is, as well as being St. George’s Day. [Regarding the next-gen patch for Fallout 4,] I don’t want to say “suspicious,” because that makes it sound malicious. But if you were a big company and there was an awesome [Fallout TV] show that just came out, you’d think you’d tie it in and have the big update ready the same day the show came out. I don’t think it’s malicious, but it seems like a very arbitrary date for them to drop it.

We’ve just been tweaking and testing to get things as stable as possible for you all in time for this release. But by dropping the new update just 48 hours later, the last four years of our work will simply be undone. It’s inevitable when there’s this lack of communication. So I just wish they would have had a conversation with us. We had no correspondence with Bethesda. I understand that there’s always going to be a reluctance to work with the community because we’re not industry professionals, but there are programs where they work with community members, so why isn’t that happening? We beat some of the Fallout 76 announcements. You would think they would have at least had a conversation to say, ‘Look, you guys are clearly at least notable, you’re not official, but let’s make sure we don’t ruin this for the fans,'” Carter said.

He’s right: why did Bethesda decide to do this?
