Has GSC Game World Moved To Prague To Finish S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?

The Ukrainian studio has reportedly been able to move its entire team a little further West (and to a calmer location) due to the Russian invasion.

GSC Game World is one of the studios affected after Russia launched a war against Ukraine. We previously reported about them having put the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 aside to protect their employees and their families. Since then, however, the situation has changed, as they put safety first and can therefore do anything: for example, they might change countries, so they don’t have to work on the game in fear of a random Russian missile.

Pavel Dobrovsky, a Czech journalist, wrote on Twitter that the entire Ukrainian studio was being moved to Prague (at first, only part of the team was mentioned, but his second tweet is a correction).

Dobrovsky is backed up by another Czech website, Vortex, and they could confirm it through their contacts within GSC Game World, as the Ukrainian team has now applied for permits in Prague. However, the story can be questioned, as Ukrainian men aged between 18 and 60 are not allowed to leave Ukraine, so it’s not certain that everyone has been able to get out of the country (and it doesn’t seem realistic that money can solve this situation, but corruption is not an unknown concept there either, so who knows what the truth is…)

It’s not official, of course, but who knows, there might be a rationale for a large part of GSC Game World to escape from hell, but until the Ukrainian studio gives us something official (even a refutation!), we can’t fully believe it. The same goes for S. T.A.L.K.E.R. 2’s release date, which is unlikely. It was announced to launch on December 8 on Xbox Series and PC, but after the Russian invasion, that is getting slimmer.
