Could A WWE Star Play Johnny Cage In Mortal Kombat 2?!

MOVIE NEWS – Following the success of the first film HBO Max, Warner Bros. is now making a sequel to Mortal Kombat, with Johnny Cage expected to appear.

It’s been just over a year since the release of Mortal Kombat, the new theatrical adaptation of NetherRealm Studios’ video game. The film wasn’t a big box office hit, but it was a hit on HBO Max, beating out all of Warner Bros.’ productions from last year, which allowed it to get a sequel, in which, by all indications, Johnny Cage could finally make a big splash.

“If that opportunity presents itself then I will be ready and focused.” – The Miz

Are there any candidates for the role? There are several, but only one is campaigning for the part. “I have been working on my splits, I’ve been working on my kicks. As soon as I saw that Mortal Kombat was out and there was no Johnny Cage yet and my name was literally trending Worldwide No. 1, ‘We want Miz as Johnny Cage,'” he recalled in a podcast. “If they want that to happen, I need to basically make sure that I am prepared and ready that if that opportunity presents itself then I will be ready and focused.”

The Miz is serious and has hired the man who prepared him for The Marine 6: Close Quarters. Now we just have to wait for New Line Cinema and WB to contact him about casting.

But this is not the first time the actor has indicated that he would like to be Johnny Cage.

Back in 2021, he was enthusiastic about the idea in an interview with Looper. “Honestly that would be a dream come true and I would put everything I possibly have into that character and make sure that it gives the Mortal Kombat fans the Johnny Cage that they deserve.”

Without giving away any spoilers, the ending of the first Mortal Kombat movie, directed by Simon McQuoid, has already hinted at Johnny Cage landing in a possible sequel. This was later confirmed by the signing of the screenwriter of Marvel’s Moon Knight. No word yet on when it will be released.
