Obi-Wan Kenobi is Like Joker and Logan According to Series Director

MOVIE NEWS – Deborah Chow says the series is character-driven, like DC’s Joker and Marvel’s Logan.

Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the series, which launches this month, has Obi-Wan hiding out on Tatooine.

“I think the thing I’m most excited about is the opportunity to do a character-driven story in a similar way – it’s a different tone – but something like the Joker or Logan, where you take a character out of a big franchise and then you really have time, and you go much deeper with the character,” Chow said at a press conference attended by Total Film. “So that to me was really exciting to be able to do that in Star Wars.”

The series will see Ewan McGregor return as the titular Jedi, Hayden Christensen return as Darth Vader, and Moses Ingram as the galaxy’s newest villain, Reva. Rupert Friend is also on board as the Grand Inquisitor, while Sung Kang plays the Fifth Brother. But while the Disney Plus series will focus on Obi-Wan, there may be a few cameos as well.

“Obi-Wan will travel,” Chow told Total Film. “Different people will come into his life. One of the things I was trying to do with this series was to have the legacy and who’s important in Obi-Wan’s life, and to have some new characters. So it’s going to be a mixture of the two. But I think there will be some surprises. I hope.”

We won’t have to wait much longer for Obi-Wan Kenobi – the series hits Disney Plus on May 27 this year.
