Horizon Forbidden West Still Breaking Records Months After Its Release!

Selling records right now: it looks like Horizon Forbidden West has benefited from the increased availability of PlayStation 5 in stores.

Horizon Forbidden West is the big beneficiary of GamesIndustry’s weekly UK sales chart this time. The latest figures for physical format sales were influenced by the increased availability of PlayStation 5 in UK stores, which propelled the Guerrilla title to the top of the list.

The PS5 has become more widely available in stores.

Forbidden West is regularly included in retail bundles available with the console, and Sony recently included it in the first official next-gen bundle. What’s more, those who buy a PS5 will want to enjoy one of the brand’s most graphically advanced titles, so it’s understandable that sales are up 94% on the previous week.

Another recent PlayStation exclusive also benefited from the arrival of more next-gen consoles, albeit on a much smaller scale. Gran Turismo 7 increased its physical sales by 38% to take tenth place, and the latest Ratchet and Clank also moved up a few places to 15th.

Nintendo Switch Sports drops to second place.

The increased availability of the PlayStation 5 meant that Nintendo Switch Sports had to settle for second place in the UK weekly sales chart. Despite the 37% drop, the Switch family game is still a hit in stores, despite being well over a month since launch.

Here are the top UK physical sales figures for the last seven days:

  1. Horizon Forbidden West
  2. Nintendo Switch Sports
  3. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  5. Pokémon Legends: Arceus
  6. Minecraft (Switch)
  7. Grand Theft Auto V
  8. FIFA 22
  9. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  10. Gran Turismo 7

As for Guerrilla’s latest release, as a reminder, the studio is constantly improving the game with updates and improvements to stability and functionality. It’s one of the highlights of 2022, or so it seemed to us when we played it earlier this year. For our detailed opinions, check out our review of Horizon Forbidden West, published in February.
