Elliot Page says it “sucks” what the studio bosses of Juno made him do back in the day

MOVIE NEWS – Elliot Page opens up about his experiences in the entertainment industry and reveals some of the difficult situations he was forced to endure in the early years of his career, including the promotion of the 2007 film ‘Juno’.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Elliot details a situation that occurred during awards season, when she made her Hollywood debut with the hit film and received an Oscar nomination for her performance.

When ‘Juno’ was at the height of its popularity, during awards season, I was aloof, wearing heels, and the whole look – I was out of sorts, and I didn’t know how to talk to anyone about it,” the actor shared.

He also claimed that Fox executives forced him to wear a dress on the red carpet even when he didn’t feel comfortable wearing it, stating that it was a stressful experience.

I remember going, and I had the thing I wanted to wear and then I understood the level of expectation of how fancy someone had to look. So I said I wanted to wear a suit, and at Fox Searchlight, they said, ‘No, you have to wear a dress,” Elliot said.

I had to wear a suit and… that was it. And then all the ‘Juno’ press, all the photo shoots – Michael Cera was in pants and sneakers. I looked back at the photos and thought…?” He continued, “I shouldn’t treat it like it was just this thing that happened – this somewhat normal thing. It’s like.: No. Regardless of being trans! I’ve had people apologize for things like, ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t know, I didn’t know at the time. Never mind! It doesn’t matter if I’m trans or cis. A lot of cis women dress the way I dress.”

I know you must be rolling your eyes a lot reading this, but you know what? No. That was f*cking lame. I shouldn’t just treat this as ‘a thing’ that just happened. It should not be normalized. No!” added a still angry Elliot Page.

To add to Elliot Page’s confession, years later, she wore a much more feminine and sexy deep red, cleavage-baring dress in Beyond Two Souls, six years later in 2013 (you can read her test here, and the dress in question is also featured in one of the pictures in the article), when she was still Ellen Page, and she didn’t complain about it at all.
