Has Rosario Dawson Said Too Much?! Another Marvel Reboot May Be Coming

MOVIE NEWS – Daredevil star Rosario Dawson may have revealed that Netflix’s former series The Punisher is about to be revived.

Recent comments from Rosario Dawson – who is known not just for her great film and TV roles but her appearance in Dying Light 2 – have further fuelled rumours that a reboot of The Punisher is in the works at Disney+. Dawson originally appeared as Claire Temple in Marvel’s Daredevil and has reprised her role in most of the other “Defenders-verse” series, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Oddly enough, she did not make a single appearance in The Punisher, making the Jon Bernthal-starring series the only one of the Marvel series on Netflix in which Claire did not appear.

Speaking at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo about Claire Temple’s role, Dawson may have let slip that The Avengers is being recast following the news that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will return in the reboot series Daredevil: Born Again.

In a video shared by @QboweTakes on Twitter, Dawson seemed to loosely state that Marvel is “remaking” The Punisher, which gives him hope that he’ll finally get a chance to bring Claire into a Punisher series after missing out on the opportunity at Netflix. As Rosario Dawson says:

“I found out yesterday that The Punisher was happening again, so I feel like it’s my second chance, because it was the only one of the shows that I wasn’t in, and I love Jon Bernthal. So, let’s all make it happen collectively, guys!”

Jon Bernthal has yet to confirm this, although he has previously indicated that he hopes to return to the role.

However, there would be one condition for a return: that the version of Frank Castle remains an R-rated version, rather than some kid-friendly version, as some fans thought might happen with the possible revival of the series on Disney+ after it moved from Netflix.

Currently, The Punisher is streaming on Disney+ along with the other Marvel series that were previously on Netflix. R-rated Marvel movies like Logan and Deadpool are also streamable on the platform. This makes it more likely that the new version of the series will retain its edge in the way Jon Bernthal would like. Hopefully, an official announcement will be made soon if the Rosario Dawson-led info turns out to be true.
