Why can’t the company wait until the next time users turn on their consoles and log into PlayStation Network?
The PlayStation 5 has received a new firmware update, which is fine. But in the meantime, Sony has also updated its T&C, or terms and conditions. It is relevant because the ‘blues’ couldn’t logically and comprehensibly implement the menu (accept/not accept) that appeared in this context. (Although after two mistakes in the short PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium list, it can’t be such a surprise; it was already mentioned in the news today!)
Sony simply logs players out while playing to make them accept the new terms and conditions. It is in the “WTF” category. Still, after the T&C is accepted, consoles might be unstable, which can be incredibly annoying when, during online, competitive multiplayer, our PlayStation 5 (or PlayStation 4) thought we should review the new terms of service. Couldn’t that have waited until the next boot…? Luckily for us, the stability of the console is restored on reboot. Anyone using the PlayStation App will have been automatically opted out, and you can notice it when you launch it. You will need to accept the T&C when logging in and then select (or confirm) your primary console again. Without using it, you can do this on the app, and then on PlayStation 5/PlayStation 4, you won’t need to repeat it.
On YouTube, user Loukoumakias at least captured something that not everyone might have seen (the TV not turned on, not connected to it with an HDMI cable…). When you first turn on the PlayStation 5, you get a unique animation, and Sony may have hidden some of the sounds used during boot-up from its older consoles (PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4).
What animation will the PlayStation 6 get?
