Eva Green Sues The Makers Of Her Cancelled Film – The Scandal Is Growing!

MOVIE NEWS – Eva Green has responded to recently leaked messages in which she appeared to insult the crew while making her cancelled film Patriot.

Eva Green recently made headlines for a series of controversial leaked WhatsApp messages. This is in connection with her lawsuit against White Lantern Films for refusing to pay the actress her $1 million fee after her film project Patriot was cancelled. Although the case was initially filed in 2020, Green’s leaked series of messages to crew members working on the film brought the issue back into the public eye. Just as the actress appeared in court.

According to The Guardian, Green was questioned under oath during her court appearance about the messages, which included crude remarks such as one of the film’s investors being a “f*****g nightmare” and the crew members being “peasants”.

Asked about the nature and purpose of the messages, Green replied:

“Sometimes you say things you don’t mean. You hate a person and say: ‘I’m going to kill this person,’ are you going to kill this person? No. It’s a cry from the heart.’ There is the famous example of Daniel Craig saying: ‘I would rather slash my wrists than do another Bond movie. But did he slash his wrists? No, he made another Bond movie and didn’t slash his wrists. Sometimes you say things because you are under extreme pressure. They just come out. I know this story well because I know Daniel.”

Eva Green spoke about serious safety lapses and mistakes

Green gave evidence in the case earlier this week as part of the court proceedings. She said the production initially allowed her to play a role that excited her. She said it was “very exciting, a role of a soldier, which I have never played before. It was about climate change. It was very dear to my heart.”

However, she went on to detail that the rehearsal time for the stunt rehearsals in the film was constantly reduced before the production started. She felt that the producers did not want to pay the usual industry rates for a “quality crew”. While discussing her feelings about the production, Green made a direct reference to the shooting on the set of Rust. Green told the court:

“You look at what happened with Alec Baldwin on the movie Rust, the producers cutting corners, no safety measures and a young woman got killed.”

While Green initially filed a lawsuit against White Lantern Films, they, in turn, filed a counterclaim against the Penny Dreadful actress. They argue that she withdrew from the film without cause. Doing so, she breached her contract with them, forcing the film to be dropped. It is not yet clear where the case is going. Still, if it all gets resolved, Green will return to Dirty Angels. In it, she will team up with Casino Royale director Martin Campbell for a story about female soldiers. They disguise themselves as nurses to rescue a group of children caught up in a battle between the Taliban and ISIS.
