Dead Island 2: 14 Minutes Of The Resurrected Game [VIDEO]

We’re getting used to the fact that there’s no turning back now and that Dead Island 2, which, for 6 or 7 years, we had every reason to believe would never happen, will get made.

Deep Silver, and its subsidiary Dambuster Studios, have released a new video of Dead Island 2, which has made its way through several developers from Techland to the studio that made Homefront: The Revolution. The company also provided a brief description of the video, which we quote: “Today’s extended gameplay video kicks off the action at the very beginning of Dead Island 2 in Bel Air, Los Angeles.

Armed with an array of weapons, each with its own unique, brutal fighting style and endless opportunities for upgrades, watch as slayer Dani meets Standard zombies (Walkers, Shamblers, Runners), Variant zombies (grenadier walkers), and Apex zombies (hypermutated zombies), each one with its horrifying powers and behaviors. Starring in the video is the slayer Dani, who hails from the mosh pits of County Cork, Ireland. Dani’s unique slayer build—tenacious yet balanced—is well-suited to an elegant combat style. Her mission in this trailer? To try and reach the Halperin Hotel.

Players will also see how tapping into Curveballs and combining a robust set of Skill Cards—which enhance abilities and create unique player builds—assist Dani as she hacks and slashes her way through the beginning areas of HELL-A. Dambuster Studios’ dismemberment tech—known as FLESH (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids)—means that crushing bones, slicing zombies, and melting flesh have never felt nor looked so satisfying. As an infected yet somehow immune slayer, players will finally witness what happens when your chosen slayer activates their corrupted DNA and triggers Fury Mode,” Deep Silver writes.

All of it sounds good, but it’s questionable what the execution and performance will be like. Dead Island 2 will be released on April 21 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
