The PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series are better than each other in different areas.
ElAnalistaDeBits’ comparison video shows how the demo for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake runs differently across platforms. On the current-gen consoles, there are essentially four graphical modes. Resolution aims for 60 FPS at native 4K resolution. Performance shows a fixed 60 FPS at dynamic 4K, and both modes can enable ray tracing.
Performance mode has a resolution of over 1800p on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and the frame rate seems to be better on the PlayStation 5 (by around 10 FPS), with the PS5 holding at about 55 FPS, while Xbox Series X climbs up to 45. Ray tracing (RT) takes approximately 5 FPS on both consoles, and the PlayStation 5 remains ~10 FPS ahead of its rival. Performance mode without RT gives a steady 60 FPS on both consoles. With RT, the PlayStation 5 mostly maintains 60, while the Xbox Series X drops below 50 FPS.
However, according to John Linneman of Digital Foundry, the VRR implementation on Xbox Series X is better, so if you have a display capable of it, you may find Microsoft’s console more stable. On PlayStation 5, chromatic aberration is broken, so it may appear uglier on Sony’s console, so it’s worth turning this option off in the settings. But the control responsiveness is worse on the Xbox Series X, says Digital Foundry: there’s more aiming dead zone and some input lag on Microsoft’s console.
A trophy list for Resident Evil 4 Remake has also been leaked. You’ll get a different trophy per difficulty level when you play it through, but if you start at a more challenging level, you’ll get ones below it. There are three levels (Standard, Hardcore, Professional), so if you play through on Hardcore, for example, you’ll also get the Standard trophy. However, completing the story on Standard and Hardcore with an S+ grade will get you another trophy, so you need at least three playthroughs to get the Platinum. But there will also be trophies for completing the game faster than eight hours, not using healing items, not talking to the merchant and using only a knife and a gun. So you have to work for the Platinum…
Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam), and PlayStation 4 on March 24.
