Next Week’s Epic Games Store Freebie Won’t Be Available To Everyone!

The following free title available on Tim Sweeney’s digital platform from Thursday (June 29) will not be available to Epic Games Store users in some countries.

It has emerged on Reddit that The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, which will be free from June 29 to July 6 (add it to your Epic Games account and access it anytime from there), will not be available on Steam’s rival platform everywhere. The game is a tactical RPG that aims to parody the fantasy genre and has drawn inspiration from Dungeons of Dragons. However, there are countries where you simply won’t be able to add the game to your account!

According to the Reddit poster, they contacted the developers, Artefacts Studios, who replied that where they did NOT sell the game on the Epic Games Store, their product would not be accessible. The countries concerned are Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, Qatar, South Africa, South Korea, Qatar, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Users will be mainly affected in Central and South America and the Far East.

It’s not Epic Games’ fault. The developers made the decision, so this time, it’s not Tim Sweeney to point the finger at. The reasoning? Regional pricing in certain countries. It’s a piquancy because their game is available everywhere worldwide on Steam and consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), with regional pricing! It leaves only the Epic Games Store players out in the cold, and Epic has not commented on the matter so far. Will they give them an alternative? (Several of their recent free-to-play games have been “repeated”…)

So you have to call the developers stingy. It’s not everyone’s fault that the local currency is worthless compared to other more stable currencies, so many people miss out on a game innocently, which is especially interesting for India, the most populous country in the world.
