We see more of Starbreeze’s game than at the Xbox Games Showcase.

 

The footage can be viewed here, but the quality is not that great. However, you can take from it that Starbreeze is taking Payday 3 relatively safely, as it feels like an evolution of Payday 2. Given that the latter is still played by many ten years after its release, this approach is logical for a company that nearly went out of business due to the flop with Overkill’s The Walking Dead but has since recovered financially…

In Payday 3, there is a greater emphasis on stealth. Some gang members can sneak in without masks, opening up more gameplay possibilities. Once the gang is discovered, the game will allow you to use hostages as shields against the police, while the location has also been changed from the US capital Washington D.C. to New York. Using Unreal Engine 4, Payday 3 is not as spectacular, but in return. The system requirements will be surprisingly friendly.

Payday 3 was first announced at the end of May 2016, but the 2018 Starbreeze reports already stated that it would not be released before 2020. At that point, the Swedish company had to reorganize, selling the publishing rights to System Shock 3 back to Otherside Entertainment for cash, 10 Crowns went back to Mohawk Games, Psychonauts 2 returned to Microsoft, and Dhruva Interactive studio was sold to Rockstar Games. Still, despite these, it took the company several years, and it was only a few weeks ago Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren announced that they were finally debt-free…

Featuring cross-play and cross-progression (you can pick up where you left off on any platform and play with others on any platform), Payday 3 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on September 21. It will also be on Game Pass at launch.
