Diablo IV’s Memory Leak Issue Could Be Gone Next Week

No wonder we say that 16 GB of RAM on a PC is almost mandatory because it’s not just web browsers (especially Google Chrome) that can eat up memory!

Even before its release in June, it was already noticeable that Activision Blizzard’s game on PC was suffering from memory leaks, i.e., it was eating more and more RAM while running, which could lead to it starting to use the page file on your PC, which is slower than memory, and could cause it to run in a stuttery manner, or the worst case, it could freeze (which, of course, in Hardcore mode, would result in the death of your character… and that’s not fair, even though they are developing a solution for that).

Adam “PezRader” Fletcher, Diablo 4’s global community development director, wrote on Reddit that the developers are working on a memory issue and that a patch coming next week should fix it. They plan to release the patch on July 18, and Fletcher said fixing the memory leak bug was a bit tricky. Hopefully, it will give a more stable experience on weaker, older machines.

The Season of the Malignant will come with the download of the patch on the 18th, which starts on the 20th. The Rebirth feature was also among the themes. It was in Diablo III but was left out of IV. Fletcher says it’s not an option YET in Diablo IV, but he’s heard a lot from team members, so they know players are missing it. This feature means that a non-seasonal character can be converted to a seasonal one, resetting their progress, equipment, and level, so they are metaphorically reborn by resetting them.

And a bug has surfaced on Reddit, the video of which has unfortunately been deleted by the moderators of the Diablo IV subreddit (we would ask, what is the point of this overzealousness?). The user, High-With-You, was supposed to complete a mission called A Sodden Pact in the game’s Scosglen region. They found a treasure chest north of the objective, which dropped loot for every click. It’s a shame we can’t show you this in the video because it must have been a very humorous sight. (It must have caused a memory leak, too.)
