Insomniac Games has confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature a classic setting from the series. We also learned a few things about Venom’s role.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will also include visiting Aunt May’s house, one of the classic locations from the series, Insomniac Games confirmed. This sneak peek into the upcoming game came as part of a San Diego Comic-Con 2023 panel, where the developers revealed Venom-related info and other details about the highly anticipated title.
As part of the recent panel, the developers confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature Aunt May’s house.
This classic location from the series has been included as more than just a fan service. It will indeed play a role in the game’s overall plot. Specifically, Peter Parker’s many early-game struggles will revolve around Aunt May’s house. Not least because the protagonist will have to deal with mortgage payments. While MJ will be trying to help him carry this burden, Parker’s lover will soon have her own problems to deal with. J. Jonah Jameson’s return to the Daily Bugle puts her job in jeopardy, Insomniac revealed.
This bit of information suggests that the early parts of Spider-Man 2 will take place in Forest Hills, Queens. This is the canonical location of Aunt May’s house in all versions of Marvel’s web-slinging superhero. The fact that Insomniac’s third Spider-Man game will be set in Queens and several other New York boroughs was confirmed at the PlayStation Showcase on 24 May. The move itself has been widely praised as addressing one of the biggest problems with the previous two Marvel’s Spider-Man games, which were mostly limited to Manhattan.
Tony Todd as Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?!
The developers of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have revealed that Tony Todd has been cast as Venom in the upcoming video game. In a recent panel discussion, the people behind the game talked about how and why the horror icon was cast in the role.
At a panel at the game’s San Diego Comic-Con, the voice actor and developer explained how the horror icon was cast in the role. Many have argued that Tony Todd is the perfect voice for Venom. The people behind the game seem to agree. According to Bryan Intihar, creative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the new Candyman movie inspired casting.
Later, the play’s dialogue director revealed that Tony Todd had expressed an interest, which resulted in a quick audition before the actor was cast.
Before taking on the role of Venom, the actor was already a horror icon. Tony Todd is perhaps best known for his role as the perennially underrated Candyman in the film of the same name. The actor reprised the role in two direct sequels to the film and in the 2021 reboot/sequel Candyman. The actor has also done several dubbing jobs. He has also voiced several video game characters in the past. Now the actor will add Venom to his already impressive resume.
