X: Twitter’s Transformation Is Underway [VIDEO]

At the time of writing, more changes have been made to the social platform bought by Elon Musk last fall.

The owner of Tesla and SpaceX recently hinted at Twitter’s new name by posting a video featuring the letter X. The animation can be ignored, as it is not used on the site, while the logo in the top left corner and on the loading page on PC is (changed at the time of writing, so it may seem relatively new), and x.com now redirects us to the social networking site (Musk’s bio has the link, too). It means that we should be prepared for significant changes, which will, in turn, mean the loss of the old branding.

Musk wrote yesterday that he would soon be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand and, in time, to all the birds. He was in quite a hurry then because the blue bird on PC is no longer very present, but the soon-to-be-behind-a-paywall Tweetdeck, which inexplicably quickly forces subscriptions (and therefore shows empty feeds), still has it. In time, we’ll probably have to say goodbye to the seventeen-year-old bluebird and the name that goes with it on Android and iOS, too.

Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of Twitter (X), says: “It’s a scarce thing in life or in business that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square. X is the future of unlimited interactivity centered on audio, video, messaging, and payments/banking, creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. AI-powered X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.

For years, fans and critics alike have pushed Twitter to dream bigger, innovate faster, and fulfill our great potential. X will do that and more. We’ve already seen X take shape over the past eight months through our rapid feature launches, but we’re just getting started. There’s absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that can deliver everything. Elon Musk and I look forward to working with our teams and every one of our partners to bring X to the world.”

Despite the cost-cutting moves, Musk admitted in July that the company is still loss-making (a 50% drop in revenue from advertisers, with a lot of debt), and that’s why he wants to create an all-in-one app, copying the Chinese WeChat example. That there monitoring is the purpose of the app. What will happen here? Moreover, it should be added that the term tweet is English for bird chirping. It has entered the vernacular. Now what will the tweets be called? X-ing?
