The Demon Expert Reveals Who The Exorcist: Believer’s Arch-Villain

MOVIE NEWS – Fifty years ago, millions of movie fans learned that the demon named Pazuzu possessed the protagonist of The Exorcist, a little girl named Regan (Linda Blair). Since it was possible to get rid of Pazuzu, as the title of the film correctly alluded to, in the sequel, which will be shown in the fall, a new demon will possess two little girls this time.

David Gordon Green, the director, screenwriter and executive producer of The Exorcist: Believer revealed that we can really say goodbye to Pazuzu, but now the fight is still going on with a demon that may be familiar to the experts of the subject . The SyFy Wire portal didn’t need any more, they contacted Dr. Scott Poole, professor of history at the University of Charleston, one of whose areas of research is the role of horror in popular culture.

According to the scientist, two candidates can be considered as the demon of the new Exorcist. One of them is Asmodeus, also known from the Bible, the demon of lust, who is a harmful being who plays a significant role in the Jewish, Islamic and Persian worlds of faith. The professor’s other tip is Moloch, the bull-headed god of the underworld, who is associated with human sacrifice and is a popular character in horror films, but he also appeared in Fritz Lang’s 1927 film-historical Metropolis. Moreover, Moloch is a notable guest character in Paradise Lost, published in 1667 by John Milton, which is considered a world literary classic, and which presents Lucifer’s bad ending, albeit drawn with empathy, to the readers in ten volumes.

The soon-to-be-released demon is expected to return in the fall sequel, The Exorcist: Deceiver, which is slated for release in April 2025. . The third part of the trilogy can probably be expected in 2027, but there is no official information about this yet.
