The Xbox 360 Marketplace Will Close Shortly!

Another platform’s digital store is heading for the graveyard, but this time, there’s still plenty of time to prepare for the farewell. However, many games are only available there, so that they could disappear.

Microsoft has announced that from July 29, it will no longer be possible to buy games, DLC, and other entertainment content from the Xbox 360 Marketplace  on console and browser. You can still buy backwards compatibility titles on Xbox One, Xbox Series, and Xbox.com, and you can still download and play games you already own on X360. By the way, this November will mark 18 years since the launch of Xbox 360, and the Microsoft Movies & TV app will also be shut down when the digital store closes (but not on Xbox One, Xbox Series, or Windows 10/11).

After the store closes, multiplayer titles will continue to work if their servers are active, and you can still upload your saves to the cloud to play on the newer consoles, too. A list of BC titles can be found here, and a Q&A about the Xbox 360 Marketplace closure can be found here. At least the Redmond-based company didn’t move by giving us a month or two to prepare.

Meanwhile, VGC has compiled a list of games that are disappearing: according to the site, more than 220 titles are going to be gone unless someone buys, downloads and archives them so that they can at least be emulated (the Xenia emulator is in good condition, so you can easily play X360 titles on a sufficiently powerful PC). Let’s look at the list of digital-only titles released for Xbox 360:

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
