Cyberpunk 2077: Horroristic Bug In Version 2.0; How Could A Possible Sequel Improve The Game?!

A new bug introduced in the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update could cause some terrifying moments in CD Projekt Red’s hit game. We also asked the question: what should the game’s sequel be like?

A Cyberpunk 2077 player has encountered a strange bug that looks like a horror movie moment. The circumstances leading to their experience suggest that the problem was caused by the game’s 2.0 update, released on September 21.

Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0 introduces smarter and tougher enemy AI, among many other changes.

The most obvious effect of this addition is that V’s enemies have a greater sense of self-preservation; enemies now use cover more, retreat if seriously injured, and even try to dodge explosives thrown their way.

On a related note, Reddit user DragonSych recently discovered a bug that makes some enemies much better at avoiding being blown up than others. To illustrate, a grenade was thrown into a trio of Scavengers. Except one of them sprinted at ridiculous speed right into its face, avoiding the explosion. The player’s dramatic editing style makes the incident footage look like something straight out of a horror movie! (See below!) The experience itself was obviously scary enough.

However, some players who commented on the incident assumed that the fast Scavenger was simply using one of Cyberpunk 2077’s Sandevistas to slow down time, which enemy NPCs can do in the 2.0 version of the game. However, not everyone agreed with this assessment.

Notably, the way the enemy went from crouching in one frame to full sprint speed in the next led some fans to suspect that this particular reaction to the grenade throw might not have been the developers’ intention.

If this is true, CD Projekt Red will probably fix the problematic behaviour in the future. However, the 2.0 update is likely the last major free patch for Cyberpunk 2077. CDPR has followed up such releases with several hotfixes to address issues that slipped through the cracks during development.

The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 needs to break out of the inconsistency of the original

After three years, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 is finally becoming the game it was promised to be. CD Projekt Red has recently released the highly anticipated update 2.0 and will launch the Phantom Liberty DLC shortly after. After the release, the studio will be busy with new projects, including another Cyberpunk 2077 game. While the franchise’s new entries sound exciting, it could be in for an incredibly steep fight among fans.

It’s no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 had an extremely challenging launch when it first hit store shelves in 2020.

Players were expecting an expansive RPG in a brand new world from the creators of the acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While the same studio certainly made the game, it seemed to fall flat for the public. Not only did it lack much of what was promised, but it was virtually unplayable on several devices, including Xbox One and PS4. This has led to months of controversy, which could affect the entire future of this young franchise.

While Cyberpunk 2077 may have sold well, its many problems have kept it from being the great RPG it promised to be. Players felt cheated. The game was effectively removed from the PlayStation Store due to the numerous problems. In addition, CD Projekt Red has been the subject of investigations and class action lawsuits for allegedly hiding technical issues. Most of these have been settled, and the game has returned to the PlayStation Store, but the damage has been done.

Is there a future for the franchise?

With the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty, it seems that CD Projekt Red will be fixing several bugs at launch. This means that many gamers are finally giving the game a chance, which is good to see after years of controversy. However, the studio itself may never get away with it. It seems to have burned almost all the goodwill it gained with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This puts the next Cyberpunk 2077 game in a bit of a tough spot.

While the primary focus will be on creating a game worthy of the RPG genre, the studio will also need to show players why this franchise is worth following.

The next Cyberpunk should not follow in the footsteps of the original game. CD Projekt Red must ensure that the game is ready for release. So that there are no technical problems and that the marketing really represents the final product. If the studio doesn’t do this, it could run into precisely the same issues again, which it may not survive. If it does, then there is a chance to break out of the shadow of Cyberpunk 2077, as long as the experience is still a fantastic RPG.
