Is Thor 5 In Danger?! Key Cast Member May Leave Marvel Movie Team!

MOVIE NEWS – Chris Hemsworth’s Thor 5 movie is reportedly being developed at Marvel Studios. Alas, the God of Thunder’s next solo film will have one glaring omission…

Iconic Chris Hemsworth’s Thor 5 is reportedly in development at Marvel Studios. However, one major name is potentially missing from the project as Marvel Studios looks to replace director Taika Waititi.

While the first Thor movie was well received, the sequel, Thor 2: The Dark World, was viewed as a disappointment. The third instalment, Thor: Ragnarök, fared better. Director Waititi, making his debut in the series, gave the character a lighter tone. So, he got the opportunity to direct the fourth Thor movie. Unfortunately for Waititi, lightning didn’t strike twice.

While it wasn’t Marvel Studios’ worst movie by far, Thor: Love and Thunder was a flop, and many fans were concerned about whether the MCU could still save Thor after the character’s flops in his solo films.

Hemsworth himself also spoke negatively about Thor 4. But Marvel Studios still has plans for the character. He stated what needs to change. According to Daniel Richtman, who reports reliably on such matters, the development of a fifth Thor film has also begun at the studio. However, Waititi will not be returning to direct the upcoming project. According to Richtman, the studio is actively looking for a successor to the director behind the last two Thor films. This probably indicates that confidence in the character’s more humorous backstory has changed after Love and Thunder failed to deliver an adaptation of one of the most exciting stories in comics in years.

Although Waititi expressed tentative interest in Thor 5, it was clear that the director would not be brought back to helm the next project, with many citing his unique approach to the character as a significant reason why Love and Thunder failed to connect with the to an audience.

Ragnarök’s success was mainly due to its novelty. For his part, Waikiki sees no fault in his approach and defended Love and Thunder.

That point of view aside, there’s plenty of scope for another film. Secret Invasion is considered by many to be a good preparation for the possible story of Thor 5. However, with three different directors already on the books (Kenneth Branagh for Thor, Alan Taylor for Thor: The Dark World, and Waititi helming the last two), there’s no doubt that the job has taken on an intimidating aspect that might scare off some potential filmmakers. The current phase of the MCU is slowly finding its way back to the large-scale territory that brings the heroes together. Planning for the next Thor movie will also have to consider the connection to the rest of the MCU.

One way or another, keeping Thor in the MCU is important for Marvel Studios’ plans, as one of Loki’s producers has confirmed that a meeting between Loki and Thor will come sooner or later. This marks the end game of the much-loved series on Disney Plus. For now, fans must wait to see how the next Thor movie turns out. Also, what role will the franchise play in the future of the MCU?
