Dead Space 3 Producer Would Fully Rewrite The Game’s Story! [VIDEO]

Chuck Beaver would take the original story and throw it in the trash. He’s not alone…

Dead Space 3 tried to be too much like Call of Duty, but ended up changing its underwear. The game was a far cry from the survival horror style of the first two installments, and after that Electronic Arts quickly left the franchise behind, shutting down the development team, Visceral, a few years later. Dead Space 3 became overly focused on action, and in the video embedded below, Beaver told CaptainBribo that he would take a completely different approach if given the opportunity to redesign the game:

“I would almost completely redo Dead Space 3. I would keep the lore beat that it’s based on, keep the lore that you find out. I would have Ellie there, but a different relationship, and I would redo the whole main story. I would throw it out and rewrite it. I would just start from scratch and I would do it like we talked about in Dead Space 2, he’s broken. And now this is the adventure of Isaac in Dead Space 3 – a broken Isaac. He tried to do the thing, he tried to do the truth, it broke him. Now we’re in the aftermath of him being broken. Now I would just do it, literally, I would do it like a Tyler Durden thing: An unreliable narrator, and you’re like, what happened? And the player may not even know, Isaac certainly doesn’t know, and is it him? Is it really him? And maybe it is… I would keep that question alive for most of 3, until you realize at the end that maybe it is something real,” Beaver said.

Beaver wouldn’t even blink at the love triangle between Isaac, Ellie, who appears in Dead Space 2, and North, who appears in 3. He’d also ditch the cooperative gameplay, which he said was unnecessary and technologically problematic in the past, not to mention the huge budget increase that came with it.

So there would be one or two things that might be interesting (Isaac’s state of mind), but most of the gameplay would start from scratch.
