2013’s unique indie adventure game Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is getting a surprise remake, set to hit modern consoles in 2024.

 

 

A remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons for modern consoles is in the works! The previously rumoured remake has finally been confirmed. Josef Fares and Starbreeze Studios’ emotional narrative adventure game in 2013 received much praise for its unique structure. The game, in which the player controlled two characters with a controller, brought a refreshing mechanic. Many were impressed when it appeared. The game also paved the way for similar themed games such as A Way Out and It Takes Two.

The game made a splash not only because of its unique control scheme. Some would say that the story of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is considered one of the best in the indie scene. The engaging tale created by the developers made perfect use of the dual control mechanics.

Not only that but even the puzzles to solve were tactfully incorporated into the story while still taking advantage of the two analog sticks to create a challenging yet engaging title that many fans loved.

During The Game Awards 2023, Josef Fares announced that the Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons remake will be released on February 28, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Developer Avantgarden took over the project. At the same time, 505 Games will be the publisher. Fares mentioned that the game will faithfully retell the 2013 classic. However, Unreal Engine 5 is used. It was also revealed that in addition to the classic single-player game, fans can enjoy the title via a local network. This means that two separate players can control the brothers alone, providing another exciting spin on the original.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake might not be the first of many surprises and rumoured announcements at The Game Awards 2023, but it definitely caught the gaming community’s attention.

The allusion was more than enough to entice many fans of the title. But 505 Games and Avantgarden have a high bar to jump because of the expectations placed on the original.

It has not been confirmed whether this announcement relates to Josef Fares’ 2022 tweet about a glimpse of his next match. But many fans seem to have taken the news positively. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons captured the hearts of many gamers back then. This remake will be set to bring the entire experience to modern players. At the same time, it will also give die-hard fans a reason to replay.
